Problem:
The organizer of a brand new classical music festival in Portland, Maine contacted me about creating their website. They wanted to feature both the acclaimed international artists coming to the festival and the local flavor and activities available in the summer in Portland, Maine. Because they are a new festival we needed to work to maximize their SEO and SEM so that they could become a favored destination. There is a huge longstanding classical music festival in Portland, Oregon which dominated the keywords “Portland Music Festival.”
Solution:
I customized the Genesis theme, Utility Pro, for the build. I used the Soliloquy slider and created slides showcasing the artists, Portland Maine and the Bach and Beer event. I created a big button in the header linking to their ticketing provider. When the site went live we watched the site slowly creep up in Google’s Page Ranking. After some very positive local press linking to the site visits have been climbing steadily.
